“Ms. McKown will be a great addition to the Crusader Volleyball program,” the school said in a statement. “We are very pleased to welcome her back to Cardinal Newman.”
In 2018, McKown was Cardinal Newman’s junior varsity head coach while also working as an assistant coach for the varsity team. McKown is also a coach for the Jupiter Elite Volleyball Club.
McKown played volleyball at Keiser University, where she is the program’s all-time leader in aces. She is second in kills, total attacks and digs.
McKown takes over a Crusaders team that went 13-11 last year. Cardinal Newman was the District 11-3A runner-up, losing to Benjamin in the district championship. The Crusaders lost a second straight match with Benjamin in the first round of the playoffs.
